Are you scratching your head (or ears!) wondering just what to get
your loving canine companion this holiday season? If you've simply run
out of ideas or are in need of some creative suggestions, here are a
few tips from your friends at Charlee Bear.
- Stuffable Toys:
There are several toys on the market that can be stuffed or filled with goodies
( jerky, dog food and of course, Charlee Bear treats! Fill the new toy
and your curious canine will work joyously to empty it. Dog toys like a
kong, a cube, or a tricky treat ball are just a few examples of stuffable
toys. Half the fun is allowing your pooch to watch you in anticipation
as you stuff goodies into these toys before giving it to them to work on.
An added bonus is that your dog gets great physical and mental exercise
when attempting to free the stuffed treats, something thats especially
important during the colder months.
- Pet Stocking Stuffers:
An "IOU" of FUN and GAMES: Another idea thats a great hit
with dogs of all ages is the "hide and seek" game using a toy or
treats as the hidden object. Place your pooch on a stay (or briefly close
them in a room if they need to polish up on their stays!) and hide the object(s)
in various places around your home. Its wise to only hide the items
where your pet is allowed, and avoid "off limits" areas such as
in houseplants, garbage cans or on top of the kitchen table. Good hiding
places may be behind a chair, under a bed or near your pets water dish.
After hiding the toy or treat, let you pup loose to search for it. Squeal
with delight when they find the hidden treasure! Repeat several times for
lots of amusement and fun.
Above all, have fun with your canine companion this
holiday season. Remember
hugs and smooches are always gifts
we can freely give our pets, regardless of the season! |
